Appreciating PWC Staff Service

Pilsen Wellness Center, Inc. celebrated its “After the Season” Staff Appreciation Awards Dinner on January 8, 2010.  With Alderman George Cardenas and Assistant Majority Leader, State Senator Tony Munoz, in attendance, staff members were treated to a night of music, folkloric dancing, local artists, and delicious food.  Given the understandable stressors front line staff experience in serving struggling families, a pleasant night to relax, share, and reminisce on past accomplishments was in order and provided a positive occasion to extend a heartfelt appreciation to dedicated employees.

Two-thousand nine (2009) came with its own set of challenges and opportunities for the organization and its program participants.  The evening provided the Center’s Administration with an opportunity to recognize the vast contributions of its professional workforce.  Private donations made the event possible.  PWC supporters include Price Consulting, Inc., Warehouse Direct, Apex, and ABM Desplaines Office Equipment.

Reaching Across Borders

The distressing images of desperate Haitian families left destitute by the recent earthquake summon everyone to support recovery efforts.  To this end, PWC staff has collected private donations from employees and will forward these to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund to bring aid to the country considered the poorest in the western hemisphere.

Introducing the E-Newsletter Team

Used as a tool to reach community stakeholders, Pilsen Wellness Center’s new E-Newsletter informs recipients of the Center’s dynamic activities, initiatives, and collaborations.  Did you know Pilsen Wellness Center offers more than 40 programs across four human service areas to include mental health, alternative education, addictions treatment, and youth prevention services?

The E-newsletter project seeks precisely to disseminate information regarding these vital, locally available services.  Community Resources Coordinator Leticia G. Vasquez lends

her graphic design expertise to the project through her visually appealing page layouts and web design skills.  The Center’s Agency Grant Writer, Teresa L. Bentley, edits submitted articles for content, brevity, and relevance and determines which pieces serve of greatest benefit to supplement current outreach efforts.

The energetic duo brings important attention to key mission-related activities.  The E-Newsletter serves as an additional means to make known the valuable work of this essential community-based organization.  Please feel free to forward any constructive feedback you may have regarding our E-Newsletter project to pwcnews@pilsenmh.org.
