The Unidos Formando Un Futuro Teen Mom’s Program, funded by the Ounce of Prevention Fund, provides 13 to 19 year old teenagers with information and support for their new role as parents. Program goals include strategies that facilitate the development of positive parent/child relationships and improving the health and emotional well being of both the child and young mom. The goals also promote economic self-sufficiency, self-esteem enhancement, and the delay of subsequent pregnancy.
Regular home visits provide convenient access to services while also allowing observation of teen parents and their emerging skills within the natural environment. Childcare and child developmental screenings are also provided. This program has been recognized by the Ounce of Prevention Fund as one of the highest quality programs in the State of Illinois.
